What is a memestock?
A memestock is a memecoin whose trading pool is quoted against a tokenized stock. Instead of trading against ETH or a stablecoin, the meme trades against a token that tracks a real share, such as Nvidia (NVDA), Tesla (TSLA) or Apple (AAPL). The meme moves with its community and partly with the stock it is paired with.
Memestocks are also called stockmemes, stock-paired memecoins, stock-paired tokens, memecoins paired with tokenized stocks, or, less precisely, stock-backed memecoins. They are all the same thing: a memecoin whose quote asset is a stock token. Why the same thing has several names
Right now: 732 memestocks with at least $2K of liquidity trade on Robinhood Chain, Base and Solana, with $7.69M of volume in the last 24 hours. The most paired stocks are NVDA, SPCX, META, GME, MSFT. See the live market
How a memestock works
Every token on a decentralized exchange trades in a pool that holds two assets. A normal memecoin pool holds the meme and ETH. A memestock pool holds the meme and a stock token: for example the official Robinhood token for Nvidia. Buying the meme means putting NVDA tokens into the pool; selling it takes them out.
- The price is quoted in the stock. If the meme holds its value in NVDA terms and Nvidia rises, the meme rises in dollars too.
- Volume is demand for the real share. Every memestock trade moves tokenized stock, so a popular meme holds and trades more of the tokenized company than it otherwise would.
- It is still a meme. The memestock gives no rights over the company. It is priced by its community, not by earnings.
Memestock or meme stock?
The two words are easy to mix up. A meme stock is a listed share pushed by social media, the way GameStop and AMC were in 2021. A memestock is a crypto token: a memecoin built on top of a tokenized stock. Meme stocks are bought through a broker; memestocks are bought onchain, from a wallet.
Where memestocks trade
Memestocks took off on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer 2 launched in July 2026 with official stock tokens for nearly 200 companies and funds. Memecoin launchpads started pairing new tokens with those stock tokens instead of ETH, and the format spread. Tokenized stocks also exist on Base, where Coinbase issues ten of them (NVDAc, TSLAc, AAPLc…) and launchpads such as o1, Feel.cash and Stonks Exchange pair memecoins with them.
Who creates them
Most memestocks are created on launchpads: Pons, o1, Long.xyz, Pair.fund, Feel.cash and others, each with its own curve, fees and pool design. Others are created directly on Uniswap. Memestock launchpads compared
Several launchpads use part of each coin's trading fees to buy the paired stock and send it to the coin's holders. The market tracks what each has paid. Holder stock rewards, by launchpad and by stock
A different kind of memestock: IMOs
MemeStock.market runs its own format on top of the same idea. Instead of thousands of launches, a short calendar of memestocks replays the history of the stock market in order, one Initial Memestock Offering at a time. Every buy fills a basket: 50% ₸USD, 25% the company's own tokenized stock and 25% strategic holdings, and every trade burns a slice of each. How IMOs work
Risks
- Memestocks are memecoins: highly volatile, often illiquid, and most go to zero.
- The stock side is a third-party tokenized stock with its issuer's own terms, not the share itself.
- Anyone can create a token with a stock-like name. Check that the pool uses the official stock token.
- Nothing here is investment advice.
Frequently asked questions
Are stock-paired memecoins backed by stocks?
Not in the sense of being redeemable. Their pool holds tokenized stock on one side, so the price is quoted in that stock and buying the meme adds stock tokens to the pool, but a holder cannot swap the memecoin back for the share at a fixed rate. They are paired with stocks, not backed by them.
Is a memestock a share?
No. A memestock is a memecoin. It gives no ownership, dividends or votes in the company whose stock it is paired with. The tokenized stock sits in its pool; the memestock itself is only a meme.
What is the difference between a memestock and a meme stock?
A meme stock is a real listed share driven by social media, like GameStop or AMC in 2021. A memestock is a crypto token: a memecoin whose trading pool is quoted against a tokenized version of a stock.
Where do memestocks trade?
Mostly on Robinhood Chain, where official stock tokens exist for Nvidia, Tesla, Apple and nearly 200 other companies and funds, and on Base, where Coinbase issues tokenized stocks such as NVDAc and TSLAc. They trade on decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap and Aerodrome.
Why pair a memecoin with a stock instead of ETH or a stablecoin?
Because the quote asset moves the price. A memecoin quoted in a stock token rises and falls partly with that stock, and every buy of the memecoin is also demand for the tokenized share in its pool.
Can memestocks go to zero?
Yes. Most memecoins do. Pairing with a stock changes what the pool holds, not the fact that the meme can be sold down to nothing.
